Cultural and Academic Empowerment
Office of Multicultural Involvement & Community Advocacy (MICA)
Facilitates both culture-specific and cross-cultural experiences for all students, aiming to empower them through education on various cultural and identity issues and their intersections.
Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI)
Offers support, community-building, and learning opportunities. Programs include Words of Engagement dialogue courses, bias support, accessibility advocacy, tutoring, mentoring, and academic support.
Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Education (OMSE)
Enhances the experience of multi-ethnic and underrepresented students through services that support retention, graduation, and academic achievement.
Inclusive Student Support and Belonging
LGBTQ+ Equity Center
Provides leadership and resources to build inclusive LGBTQ+ communities on campus. Offers social and educational programs, training, and support for people of diverse genders and sexualities.
THRIVE Center for Essential Needs
Provides short- and long-term support to help students meet basic needs and thrive at UMD. Services include food and housing assistance, financial wellness resources, and specialized support for first-gen and undocumented students.
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS)
Helps international students and scholars with immigration, adjustment to U.S. life, and campus integration.
Community and Cultural Engagement
Nyumburu Cultural Center
Serves as the hub for Black social, cultural, and intellectual life through lectures, seminars, workshops, art exhibits, and more.
Student Organizations Resource Center
UMD offers many identity-based and cultural student orgs. Use Terplink to browse and join groups; the Student Organization Resource Center (SORC) can help with questions.
University Chaplains
A collective of faith leaders who support the spiritual needs of the campus community, representing a wide range of religious traditions.
Wellness and Accessibility Services
The Counseling Center
UMD’s main provider of free, confidential therapy and mental health services. Also offers crisis intervention, outreach, and referrals.
ADA/504 Coordinator
Leads UMD’s efforts toward campus accessibility and responds to disability-related concerns and reports of discrimination.
Accessibility & Disability Service (ADS)
Provides reasonable accommodations to ensure equal access for students with disabilities. Offers support, advocacy, and guidance on accessibility matters.
