Director's Office
Administrative home to the Director of Resident Life and senior staff within the Department; provides executive leadership, management, and support for the functions and responsibilities within the Department of Resident Life
Assignments and Public Inquiry
Supports and assists students and families with their requests to live in the residence halls; manages housing applications and room assignments and responds to calls, emails, and walk-in visits
Communities
Works directly with students to provide engaging events, offer support and resources, maintain service desk operations, and respond to after-hour crisis
Creative Services
Collaborates on the visual content and design of digital and print materials and provides communications support to students and staff
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Coordinates several courses and resources related to diversity and inclusion, and oversees staff DEI training and development
Finance & Business Services
Oversees finances, including budget forecasting, expense reporting systems, credit card transactions, and staffing and operational unit budgets
Human Resources
Supports the department’s staffing, organizational, and business operations and oversees payroll, timesheets, and benefits for student and professional staff
Information Technology
Provides technological, network, and systems support to staff, ensures data security and IT compliance, and oversees the installation and maintenance of hardware
Living-Learning & Academic Support Initiatives
Coordinates efforts to support, enhance, and nurture the collaboration between Res Life staff and the University’s living-learning program faculty and staff
Off-Campus Housing Services & Housing Partnerships
Manages the UMD Off-Campus Housing Services Office and coordinates with affiliated housing partners regarding the operation of the campus’s public-private apartment communities offering housing to UMD students
Research & Assessment
Conducts assessment projects related to student engagement, learning and satisfaction to enable data-informed evaluation and decision making
Residential Engagement Programs
Coordinates all centralized community development, educational and academic enrichment programming, engagement, orientation, sustainability, and recruitment and outreach programs and initiatives
Rights and Responsibilities
Manages the conduct process for the residence halls and affiliated properties, adjudication of the UMD Code of Student Conduct and Residence Halls Rules, and promotes student safety, well-being, learning, and accountability
Student Leadership Development
Advises the Residence Hall Association Executive Team and the National Residence Hall Honorary; manages RA Groundwork, the training course for incoming Resident Assistants
Sustainability Programs
Coordinates education, training, and resources for students and staff, and oversees sustainability programs that support campus sustainability goals
Training & Development
Coordinates departmental onboarding and on-going professional development for graduate and full-time staff, as well as recognition programs
