Chapter Houses on Fraternity Row

For the 2025-2026 academic year, Resident Life is excited to bring the Maryland Residential Experience to four chapter houses on the Row! Available to eligible residence hall students, the four chapter houses will offer the benefits of on-campus living and the opportunity to live in a prime UMD location with a more independent housing style than traditional residence halls.

Thanks to a partnership with the Departments of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Residential Facilities, room assignments for residence hall students will be available for the 2025-2026 academic year in chapter houses 3, 7, 9, or 10.

Each house will be co-ed and designated as mixed gender housing.  Every house includes one community bathroom designated for males, one community bathroom designated for females, and one single-user bathroom. Residents will also have the opportunity to register to stay in the house during the Fall, Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring break periods.

• Variety of room types – including singles, doubles and triples

• Shared residential kitchen with adjoining dining space
• Access to the 24-hour Leonardtown Community Center, located behind the Row
• Easy walking distance to McKeldin Mall, College Park Metro, and shops and restaurants in the City of College Park
• Located next to the recreational and fitness facilities in Ritchie Coliseum

Amenities

Bedroom furnishings include a bed, a mattress, a desk, a dresser, and a closet space. Central air-conditioning is available during the University cooling season (typically from late April to September). 

Each house includes a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, range/oven, sink, and microwave. Cooking supplies are not provided. Students have the flexibility to maintain a dining plan, modify their plan, or opt out of it. To cancel or modify a dining plan, visit the Dining Services website and login to your Dining Account.

Rates & Fees

These are proposed housing fees for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. The University System of Maryland Board of Regents reviews and approves proposed fees. We anticipate a decision from the Board of Regents later this summer.

* Note: A limited number of chapter house flex double rooms are available. The configuration of these rooms includes a sloped ceiling on one side which does not allow the beds to be bunked and may lack a portion of the furniture package such as a dresser. Rooms are equipped with closet spaces.

Resident Life Staff

Resident Life staff members are available to assist residents with a variety of needs and services. Chapter house residents will receive services from Resident Life in conjunction with the Leonardtown Community. 

An Undergraduate Resident Assistant lives in each chapter house and is available to provide support, respond to the personal needs of residents, and help foster an environment that supports academic and personal development.

Undergraduate Community Assistants manage the Leonardtown Community's 24-hour service desk, located in the Leonardtown Community Center directly behind Fraternity Row, and are a great resource for residents. The Leonardtown Community 24-hour service desk is the central location for mail and package pick-ups, key borrowing and replacements, and other customer service requests.

The Leonardtown Resident Director is responsible for overseeing the four chapter houses and supporting residents. The Resident Director works in the Leonardtown Community and supervises all student staff members. The Resident Director works with residents to manage the chapter house environment and foster a valuable social, cultural, and academic experience through various community development programs. Residents are also supported by programs and services of the Department of Residential Facilities, including service requests for maintenance and repairs, housekeeping and furnishings.

Mail & Packages

All mail and packages should be sent to the Leonardtown Community Center for pick up.  Residents will be notified via email when a package or parcel is received and is ready for pick up.

Students living in one of the four residence halls Chapter Houses should use the following format for their mail and packages:
