Administrative home to the Director of Resident Life and senior staff within the Department; provides executive leadership, management, and support for the functions and responsibilities within the Department of Resident Life

Supports and assists students and families with their requests to live in the residence halls; manages housing applications and room assignments and responds to calls, emails, and walk-in visits

Supports and promotes programs and educational messaging through a coordinated communications strategy, and responds to housing inquiries from students, families, and other stakeholders

Works directly with students to provide engaging events, offer support and resources, maintain service desk operations, and respond to after-hour crisis

Collaborates on the visual content and design of digital and print materials and provides communications support to students and staff

Coordinates Common Ground Deliberative Dialogue Program and community-centered engagement efforts, including curricular and co-curricular dialogues & programs, peer-led dialogue facilitation courses, and staff development opportunities

Oversees finances, including budget forecasting, expense reporting systems, credit card transactions, and staffing and operational unit budgets

Supports the department’s staffing, organizational, and business operations and oversees payroll, timesheets, and benefits for student and professional staff

Coordinates efforts to support, enhance, and nurture the collaboration between Res Life staff and the University’s living-learning program faculty and staff

Manages the UMD Off-Campus Housing Services Office and coordinates with affiliated housing partners regarding the operation of the campus’s public-private apartment communities offering housing to UMD students

Conducts assessment projects related to student engagement, learning and satisfaction to enable data-informed evaluation and decision making

Coordinates all centralized community development, educational and academic enrichment programming, engagement, orientation, sustainability, and recruitment and outreach programs and initiatives

Infuses restorative practices across departmental programs, initiatives, and culture, including facilitation of train-the-facilitator programs, community circles, RA training, and integration into the residential curriculum

Manages the conduct process for the residence halls and affiliated properties, adjudication of the UMD Code of Student Conduct and Residence Halls Rules, and promotes student safety, well-being, learning, and accountability

Coordinates education, training, and resources for students and staff, and oversees sustainability programs that support campus sustainability goals
