  • laptop or personal computer (Windows compatible or Macintosh)
  • lock for laptop
  • bed risers
  • printer for laptop or PC
  • Category 5, 5e, or 6 Ethernet cable no longer than 14 feet
  • laundry bag, detergent
  • quarters for the washers and dryers
  • clothes hangers; alarm clock
  • wastepaper basket, plastic liners
  • first aid kit
  • school/desk supplies
  • backpack or reusable cloth bag for carrying your books, reusable water bottle, etc.
  • desk/floor lamp (no halogen bulbs, no lamps with gooseneck arms and plastic shades)
  • CFL or LED bulbs (not regular incandescent) for desk/floor lamp
  • under-the-bed storage boxes (10" clearance)
  • UL/CSA approved power outlet strip equipped with an Integrated Circuit Breaker (over-current shutoff protector)
Items to Discuss with Roommates
  • touch-tone phone with standard plug
  • small refrigerator (3.6 cubic foot max) with grounded plug
  • carpet remnant or rug
  • free-standing shelving units for floor, dresser top or closet shelf
  • flashlight, battery-powered radio, extra batteries
  • curtains, window fan(s)
  • iron/ironing board
  • dustbuster / vacuum, green cleaning supplies
  • memo board for your room door
  • cable-ready television and 15- to 20-foot cable, stereo, DVD player
  • air cleaner or air ionizer with UL Seal
  • two recycling containers, one for plastic/cans/bottles, one for mixed paper
Items You Should Not Bring
  • extension cords of any type
  • boxes, trunks, suitcases, etc., except what fits under your portion of bed (10" clearance) or closet
  • clothing that must be hung in closet and that exceeds 2'-3' width
  • winter clothing and gear
  • bicycle (unless you'll use outdoor rack)
  • extra seating or other furniture
  • excessive amounts of clothing, books, posters, personal effects, etc.
  • ashtrays (smoking is not permitted inside any campus building)
  • cinderblocks
  • halogen bulbs
  • lamps with gooseneck arms and plastic shades
Prohibited Items
  • alcoholic beverages (if under age 21)
  • illegal drugs (grounds for dismissal), drug paraphernalia
  • candles (lighted), incense, fireworks, weapons
  • hotplate, any appliance with open or exposed heating element or coil
  • toaster, toaster oven, skillet, crock pot, etc.
  • partitions, room dividers, other structures and lofts of any type, excepting only loft beds rented from the approved vendor, Bedloft.com
  • masking or cellophane tape, nails, other products that damage paint/wall surfaces
  • microwave oven (floor lounge might have one)
  • pets
  • private air conditioner, space heater
  • waterbed
