Packing for Move-in Day

Packing for Move-in Day

Your room has a regular twin bed (36" x 75" mattress), a five-drawer dresser (except Oakland Hall, Prince Frederick Hall, and Leonardtown apartment buildings #238-242, which has three-drawer dressers), desk with drawer and shelf, and desk chair for each student. The room also has window blinds, closet space, smoke alarm, fire suppression sprinkler, and overhead light. Storage space is limited to the upper shelf and floor inside the closet(s) and under the beds.

While our residence halls do have wireless internet access, you will also have your own hard-wired data line and cable jack. You must bring your own computer and twisted pair CAT 5 Ethernet cable (no longer than 14'). You and your roommate(s) will share one phone line with voicemail.

There are no carpeted rooms in the Cambridge, Denton, Ellicott or North Hill communities (with the exception of Anne Arundel and St. Mary's halls) or in Cecil Hall. For most rooms, a 10' x 12' carpet is recommended. All rooms are carpeted in the South Hill Community residence halls (with the exception of Cecil Hall), the Leonardtown Community, Anne Arundel Hall, and St. Mary's Hall.

Packing Suggestions

  • Bring plastic and umbrellas to cover your belongings in the event of rain or snow.
  • Bring an extra set of car keys, in case yours get locked inside the car.
  • Dress for exposure to the weather, and wear sturdy, comfortable shoes.
