January 2020 Housing Outlook
What does this mean?

January 2020 Housing Outlook The Department of Resident Life's best estimate is that for Fall 2020, we will be in a position to house students in their first and second year of college, and third and fourth year students in the exempted groups listed on page 36 of the On-Campus Student Housing Strategic Plan.

All current first-year residence hall students who are in good academic and judicial standing and meet the March 27 deadline should be able to secure on-campus housing for their second year and be invited to participate in Room Selection 2020.

Current second-year students living in residence halls during the Spring 2020 semester will have the highest priority for new leases that become available at The Courtyards and South Campus Commons for 2020-2021. Due to housing demand and the reduction of our campus housing inventory for 2020-2021, the Department of Resident Life anticipates that current second-year students who are not in exempted groups are unlikely to secure housing in residence halls for their third year. We still strongly encourage these students to still submit the Returning Student Agreement by the March 27 deadline to retain consideration for residence hall housing should it become available. As always, demand among incoming first-year students and rising second-year students determine availability for groups in higher commitment group standings.

Current third-year students may also apply at The Courtyards or South Campus Commons, and will be eligible to lease after all second-year students have had an opportunity to attend lease meetings. Third-year students who are not in exempted groups are also unlikely to secure housing in residence halls for a fourth year. We strongly encourage these students to still submit the Returning Student Agreement by the March 27 deadline to retain consideration for residence hall housing should space become available.

A Note about Good Standing

RHA legislation regarding status for students with rule violation(s) that result in multiple administrative housing probations will continue to be implemented. Such students will be placed at the end of their commitment group for 2020-2021. This action will have a direct negative impact on their selection positions.
