Undergraduate Office Assistant Positions

The Department of Resident Life has many office positions available during the for the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters. Many students find it useful and practical to hold a part-time job on campus. Research has found that working between 10-20 hours per week in an on--campus job helps students manage time, promotes social interaction, and positively correlates with a high GPA and persistence in earning a degree. Most offices are open traditional business hours, approximately 8:30a to 4:30p and can accommodate academic commitments. Applicants must be a registered UMCP undergraduate student in good standing and possess strong administrative, organizational, and customer service skills.

Job Descriptions
Student Accounting Assistant

The Student Accounting Assistant will assist the Business Manager in all areas related to Budget and Accounting. Applicants must have advance computer/software knowledge. The Student Accounting Assistant is expected to work less than 10-20 hours per week for fall and spring semesters and 20-40 hours per week for semester break and summer semester. Applicants should possess strong math skills, efficient typing skills, and good customer service skills. The ideal candidate will pay close attention to details and function independently after trained. Resident Assistants are strongly encouraged to apply.


Human Resources Assistant

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for assisting the Human Resources office in basic duties including, but not limited to greeting visitors, answering phones, taking messages, covering the office during the lunch hour, providing clerical assistance such as copying, collating, typing and filing, and making deliveries to and from various campus offices, etc. The HR Assistant also provides support to the Accounting Associate on personnel and payroll matters/duties. All applicants should be prepared to work under 10 hours per week.


North Campus, South Campus, and South Campus Commons Office Assistant

The North Campus Community, South Campus Community, and South Campus Commons Office Assistants are responsible for assisting with basic duties including, but not limited to greeting visitors, answering phones, taking messages, covering the office during the lunch hour, providing clerical assistance such as copying, collating, typing and filing, making deliveries to and from various campus offices, and special projects as assigned. NC and SC Office Assistants should be prepared to work under 10 hours per week.


Director's Office Assistant

The Office Assistant for the Director's Office is responsible for assisting the Executive Administrative Assistant in basic office duties including, but not limited to greeting visitors, answering phones, taking messages, covering the office during the lunch hour, sorting and distributing mail (twice daily), providing clerical assistance such as copying, collating, typing and filing, making deliveries to and from various campus offices, and special projects as assigned. Office Assistants should be prepared to work under 10 hours per week.


Rights and Responsibilities Assistant

The Rights and Responsibilities Assistant is responsible for assisting the Program Management Specialist in basic office duties including, but not limited to greeting visitors, answering phones, taking messages, providing clerical assistance such as filing, maintaining student judicial records, database entry, and scheduling appointments, and special projects as assigned. The ideal applicant must be able to maintain confidentiality and carry out designated policies and procedures of the Department of Resident Life. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of Access is desired. All applicants should be prepared to work under 10 hours per week.
